After installing Guide Tool I had about 500. Before Guide Tool I had 17 items in the list. I had to manually add the channels even after the scan, and I didn't see the additional guide data options until after I installed Guide Tool. GuideTool is still easier, but for those that want to do it manually or know where to look to verify in the interim, I hope this helps!

I did find that GuideTool uses a standard DVBLink assembly for it's calls to media center and there are apparently some cool API calls that can be made - may have to see what I can code myself with them. When WMC goes to do it's XML EPG update, it simply now does a split every time and polls the 2nd provider for that manually added channel. This is also why GuideTool can then be closed and not stay resident and your missing channel magically now gets it's EPG data from a Cable provider for OTA. I had to peruse code to figure it out and had no idea this screen was actually present in WMC to allow a different EPG provider PER CHANNEL.

This is what GuideTool does - the 'secret sauce' I was missing as to how it assigns a cable or sat provider to give EPG data for your OTA channels, one at a time. Scroll the long list to find the real source of your missing channel (662 in my case which equals ALL the diff providers channels in GuideTool) Select the newly found missing channel in the list and click the 'select' buttonĥ. Go to Settings, TV, Guide, Edit Channelsģ.

Note this will not prompt for a zip so if I were to do this (and I have) I would/have done it AFTER running setup and having my real zip entered. and want to completely remove their guide data and download from scratch. If you really want to switch your box to ROVI, use that zip then reboot in between going back in and re-setup using your native zip and I've also noticed my HD thrashes for over 3 full minutes after re-setup is 'complete' while its actually unpacking the EPG so reboot in between if you don't get 53045 with ROVI, you have another issue downloading the EPG data all together.
